  Following their surprise 4-0 win against the Premier League champions, Tottenham's players had every right to relax on the coach journey back to the capital, and celebrations were led by their goal-scoring heroes on the night, Johnson, Maddison, Solanke and Porro, with the Spanish right-back coming out on top.

  THE BIGGER PICTURE

  Following their outstanding performance at the Etihad, Spurs players were understandably in a celebratory mood. They moved into the European places for the first time since August, and in the process, ended City's astonishing 52-game unbeaten home run. Maddison scored twice in seven first-half minutes to give Spurs a cushion, before Porro and then Johnson added extra gloss to the scoreline.

  On the drive back to London, Porro posted an image of the Mario Kart leaderboard on his Instagram story, which showed him winning the competition by a comfortable margin from his team-mates. The post was accompanied by a series of laughing emojis.
