Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to express their desire to see former playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa make a sensational return to St James’ Park, following the Frenchman’s scintillating form since leaving the club.
The 31-year-old’s first stint back in his homeland saw him move to Nice after a loan spell with Hull, where he quickly got back to his best.
In what was perhaps the best season on his career to date, Ben Arfa hit 17 goals and recorded six assists in 33 Ligue 1 starts back in the 2015/16 season, earning a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
He failed to hit those heights at the Parc des Princes, and has since moved to Rennes. However, a stunning assist against Monaco recently, which attracted the masses on Twitter, has Magpies supporters begging for the former fans’ favourite to make a return to Tyneside.
Having said that, he was often accused of laziness whilst with Newcastle, as well as whilst with the Tigers, so any potential return would be clouded in controversy.
